Laminated waterproof motorcycle jacket

The Mondial jacket has been a huge success for Oxford, as a waterproof motorcycle textile firmly within the competitive lower to mid-price realm.

The Mondial's unique selling point is that it has a laminated construction. This means the waterproof layer is bonded to the outer shell, rather than a secondary waterproof layer underneath. This results in a bike jacket that is not only completely waterproof, but also quick to dry out because it doesn't hold water. It also results in a much lighter weight.

The waterproof membrane is Oxford's own Dry2Dry system rather than Gore-Tex. Gore-Tex laminated biker jackets (typically by the likes of Rukka and Dane) are a lot more expensive. Even the recent Richa Atlantic Gore-tex laminated jacket is around two and a half times the price of the Mondial.

What's the difference between the Mondial and the Hinterland?

The slightly more expensive Hinterland sits alongside the Mondial in the Oxford jacket range, but represents the next generation of Oxford's laminate technology. Introduced a few years after the game changing Mondial, the Hinterland features an improved waterproofing and breathability rating thanks to the next-generation "tri-laminate" technology, higher-spec YKK AquaGuard zips, and Polartec stretch panels. The Hinterland also achieves a higher "AA" CE protection rating.

The Hinterland also boasts different design and finishing details. It's a simpler design (or less technical, depending on your personal perspective), and is available in different colourways to the Mondial.

The Hinterland is a technically superior, more advanced jacket than the Mondial but the two still concurrently feature in the Oxford range. Which one you choose will probably come down to the price difference at the time of purchase, and your own personal design/colour preferences.

Oxford Mondial Laminated Jeans

Connecting to the jacket and providing a two-piece zip together solution are the the Oxford Mondial Jeans. Featuring the same laminated Dry2Dry laminated construction as the Mondial jacket, CE knee armour, plus air vent features, the pants are available in two colourways: Tech Grey or Grey/Blue/Red.

Complete with detachable braces and, the Mondial jeans are vailable in a wide range of sizes plus short, regular and long variations.
