A bit more about Aprilia before you compare insurance
Those of us of a certain age will remember when Aprilia were all about racy, small capacity two strokes – namely the RS125 and the RS250. In the days when your local bike meet still buzzed with the visceral sound and smell of small capacity oil burners, Aprilia went head-to-head with Suzuki’s RGV250, Kawasaki's KR1-S, and the Yamaha TZR250 - all vying for two stroke supremacy and the lightweight race-rep crown.
If you were young at the time, the Aprilia RS125 was the 125cc learner bike of choice. It was far better looking, more exotic, and faster than any of the Japanese equivalents. It was the bike to have (or Cagiva’s equally exotic Ducati 916 lookalike Mito). Sadly, it was only the wealthier kids that could afford either of these beauties – but this only made them more desirable. With 33bhp, and 100mph almost in reach when derestricted (as long as you'd passed your test of course), the little RS125 made for a proper razor-sharp weapon.
The RS has (along with every other small capacity motorcycle) of course now morphed into a 4 stroke. However, it’s still probably the most desirable of all the learner legal 125’s.
In 1998, Aprilia launched the brand into the big bore bike game, with the Rotax engined RSV1000 V-twin. Having mainly only produced small bikes and scooters up to this point (if you exclude the Pegaso and rare as hens’ teeth Moto 6.5), it was to be a bold, brave and decisive move for the Italian bike manufacturer.
Aprilia made the RSV Mille, and the subsequently revamped and restyled RSV1000R, until 2010. Along the way, Aprilia dabbled with using the engine in a sports tourer (the oddball Futura), and the streetfighter styled Tuono.
In 2009, almost a decade before Ducati began powering its flagship Panigale with a V4, Aprilia's v-twin morphed into the V4 engined layout with the RSV4. It was perhaps an easier decision for Aprilia, as the brand wasn't as highly invested in the V2 layout as Ducati, who had a much lengthier history of the brand being a v-twin marque.
The Aprilia range today is still topped by the RSV4 – alongside its naked stablemate the Tuono.
Aprilia have also recently entered the middleweight arena with the RS660 (with Tuono variant) – sure to appeal to riders looking for a bike whose potential can be better exploited on the road, or those looking for a sporty but usable bike on an A2 bike licence (there's a 94bhp version available).
True to form, Aprilia are still making small capacity learner machines – the RS125 and it’s naked Tuono stablemate, plus the SX/RX motocross/Supermoto models.
Aprilia also offer up the sporty SR GT 125 and SR GT 200 scooters, and the 50cc SXR moped.

How much is Aprilia bike insurance?
Motorcycle insurance prices depend on a multitude of factors including where you live, your age and occupation, the bike you ride, and what kind of insurance cover you are looking for.
Aprilia insurance is no different. Whilst it's safe to say that insurance on an RSV4 is probably going to be more expensive than a 5 year old RS125, it is entirely dependent on your individual circumstances. For example, the Aprilia RS125 is typically ridden by younger, more inexperienced riders than the RSV4. If you're 18 years old, insurance for an Aprilia RS125 may well cost more than the quotes received by a 40 year old looking for RSV4 quotes.
